Services

We offer services for cats, dogs, ferrets, and pocket pets.

Comprehensive Physical Examinations - Including dental and eye exams and glaucoma screening. We also perform new puppy and kitten examinations.

Surgery - We perform extensive soft tissue surgery, laser surgery, and minor orthopedic surgery. We also have on-site digital x-ray facilities (including OFA certification) and video otoscopy.

Immunizations - We understand the importance of immunizing your furry friends to help protect them against infectious diseases. Extended vaccine protocols.

Ferret Medicine & Small Mammal Care - We have nearly 25 years of ferret medical and surgical experience. We are experienced at treating rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, and mice.

Nutritional Counseling - We carry IVET, Hill's Prescription, Purina Veterinary, and Royal Canin Veterinary dog and cat diets.

Complete Dental Services - Including digital dental x-rays. Regular professional cleaning is important to maintaining your pet's healthy teeth and gums.

Spaying/Neutering - We encourage you to help control the pet population by spaying or neutering your pet.

Parasite Control - Including heartworm testing and treatment, intestinal parasite treatment, and external parasite (fleas, ticks, and mites) treatment and prevention.

Pharmacy - We stock a wide variety of medications.

Behavioral Counseling - Our trained professionals can help determine the cause of behavioral problems and develop a treatment plan specifically for you and your pet.

Microchipping - Microchips have helped to reunite thousands of owners with their lost pets. It is a quick and relatively painless process and it increases the chances of a safe return if your pet is lost or stolen.

Grooming and Bathing - We offer therapeutic grooming and medicated baths. We also offer toenail trimming and ear cleaning.

Compassionate Euthanasia - We understand saying goodbye to a longtime friend can be difficult and painful. Our doctors and staff will work to ensure your pet's comfort and dignity.

Emergency & Critical Care Services - We offer emergency and critical care services from 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, 8 a.m. to Noon Saturday, excluding holidays. After hours please call Iowa Veterinary Specialties at 515/280-3051.
